Mud and butter play a variety of 1940/50s style swing blues and jazz, coupled with more earthy americana roots music! We play a mixture of authentic originals along with some of the great classic jazz and bluesy roots numbers with a bit of folk thrown in to boot!
ABOUT THE BAND
MICHAEL STRAIN
Michael Strain is a Glasgow based guitar player who developed the blues and jazz sound of Mud & Butter in local bars during periods in Kansas, and more recently, Toronto. Michael's style swings between the rhythms of Django Reindhart and the bottleneck of the Delta.
FIONA GARVIE
Fiona is a classicly trained musician who, before joining up with Mud & Butter, served a tenure as saxophone player in an ocean liner big band throughout the world. She developed wide ranging abilities on the tenor and alto saxes, flute and clarinet: and she can sing, too! Her trademark bluesy sound lends Mud & Butter that real downhome feeling.
